Default Activate phone portion before BlackBerry?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey everyone,

Work has ordered me a new BB, and they're porting my number to the enw phone/account. With the holidays and all, I'm not sure I can get IT to configure the BB part right away. Can I activate the phone and get all that porting garbage out of the way, and configure BB later?

I think I can, but I don't want to assume.

Yes. Both voice and data services on the BlackBerry can be enabled independantly. Getting your voice service running should be no more difficult than switching to any other cellular handset.

That's what I thought. Thanks for the quick reply.

But the BB data plan will need to be added to the device either way when the phone service is transferred.

Yeah, that part is being coordinated with Cingular along with the number porting and account establishment. I just wanted to make sure that the part that needs to be done by my local IT guys can wait.
