Default do you use an extended battery with your BB?

Please Login to Remove!

I have a 7250, and with heavy usage, if I were to go out at night, I notice that my bb would probably die.

I'm thinking about biting the bullet (feeding the addiction?) and getting an extended battery.

how many of you guys are using it? does it make it too bulky to carry everywhere?

thanks!

I don't use an extended battery, since i'm under the impression that if your using up the entire standard battery durring a day that you are using your Blackberry way to much.

If you actualy *need* to be working on it that much then you probibly run a large company and I sugjest that these people invest in a laptop instead of doing all their work on a Blackberry. Blackberrys are nice, but I wouldn't sugjest working to much on those small keys.

My battery on my 8700 normally lasts about 4 days, but I would guess my usage is less than yours? I get about 50-80 emails, send 10-15, use Yak-on for 10-15 minutes, browse for 10-15 minutes, make 3-8 calls for a total of 30 minutes. My BB is set to go to sleep at 11pm and wake up at 7am weekdays and 9am weekends.

I only charge it once it shuts down. I have a USB cable at home and at work, but I normally charge it overnight. When you charge it, you have to charge it for hours to "top it off", not just until it has full bars. On my 8700 it reaches full bars at 80%, but if you look at the options>status it will show you the true battery level.

I use an extended battery plus have a spare one too. I swap them out every Monday morning. I very seldom need to use them both, however I've been on some large scenes where I have needed them. (I'm a paramedic supervisor and on the hazmat team also). They also got a lot of use when I was in Texas during Rita.

hrmm.. maybe something is messed up with my battery?

i get ~50 emails a day, respond to about 15 of them.. i surf the web for about 30 min, use verichat for about 20, send/recieve about 30 SMS, and make about 20 calls a day.. I'm also using a CDMA bb, which I figure uses way more juice than a GSM one..

maybe the calls are really killing my battery life. because by 9/10 pm, I get a low battery warning.

its hard to use a laptop all the time, as I'm not always able to sit down and pull it out . but I do carry my laptop around with me, and spend about 40% of the day on the go.

I have a 7250 from Verizon with the extended battery. It goes for roughly about 4 days for me. My BB is on from 7:30 AM till 11:00 PM weekkdays and 9:30 Am weekends. I get an average of 30 to 50 e-mails a day, I use the BB messenger a few times a day, I surf on it about 30 minutes a day, I have bbtoday, bbweather running constantly, I never turn off my bluetooth. I use a sudoku puzzle game daily, use the calendar quite a bit with reminders constantly and get just a very few calls on it. My regular battery barely gave me a day and a half, so now I have double the life. It is holstered all day long so sleep function is almost always on. After the conditioning of the battery however I try to top it off every night, so in reality it seldom goes below 85%. Once in a while I will run it for three days or so without charging to keep the battery honest so to speak.

I used to be able to get a day and a half with light-ish usage.. but my usage has since increased, and now im barely able to get a full day.

i also keep my bb on 24/7, as its also my cell, which I've always kept on 24/7 just in case someone needs to reach me.

Ditto. I find myself constantly putting my BB on some sort of charger (wall or USB) to top it off as directed in Mark Rejhon's tip sheet, so I don't really know how long it would last before dying, but I'm sure not much more than a day or two. Heavy usage days can leave me with 55% - 70% after about ten hours of being on (I guess that's not too bad).

I would like to pull the trigger on an extended battery, if nothing else than to at least have the ability to run it longer without charging, but it's not a necessity for me at this point.

Can you provide improvement specifics? Before vs. after?
