i just recently purchased a blackberry curve from a local cash generator, but when i got home it tells me the phone is locked:(. so rather than take it back and refund i thought i would take to a phone repair shop to see if it fixable, i get told that the imei number is blocked and it is illegal to unblocok it:(, is this the end of the my blackberry or is there any way of fixing this?
thanks in advance

Sounds like the device has been marked as lost or stolen by the carrier.

Some more information would help, like which network you are planning on using the BlackBerry on, and which network the BlackBerry you have is locked too.

One of the forum sponsors, Horizon Wireless, provides unlocking services and I believe they do discounts for forum members as well.

If it is not bought from a reputable source, it could be marked as lost/stolen and you that may cause issues with activation as well.

Edit: Jsconyers beat me too it

thanks alot guys.
um a little more information
i just determined if the phone was unlocked or locked by following steps on this website and it says it is still locked as the network said active.
on the front of the phone it says t mobile but under options>mobile network it says mobile network=02-uk.
i have inserted my orange sim card in and tried searching for networks but it tells me it times out all the time:(.
is the phones imei evan blocked? by this i mean could i evan go into options and everything else if it was blocked?
and all i need to do is get the phone open to all networks?

i know im a novice but ill appreciate any replie...

thankyou in advance

Call or email HorizonWirelessOnline.com - Horizon Wireless, The World’s Cellular Repair Center to see what they can do about selling you an unlock code.
