I've been ordering blackberries through our Cingular Rep for well over a year now, started with 6280 and now at the 8700c. Back in September we purchased 20 7290's off the bat with a new server license, as well as pre-ordered 10 8700c's when they were announced and have gotten at least 10 - 15 more since their release.
When the deal came up in November for the free bluetooth headset, I checked and sure enough it wasn't available for corporate customers.
Being that we spend quite a bit more then the average one-time user who walks into a store to purchase only one new unit, I asked my Cingular rep if he could maybe get us a headset or two. I don't think it was out of line? We spend enough money on them and honestly we havn't gotten anything from our rep, aside from a lunch when he first came out to talk to us.
Now I have to say this is our second cingular rep, the first one we had never came back or returned our calls, she came out, showed us the 6280, we kept it for a few days and she came back, we told her we'ld take 10 right there. Never ended up completing that order, she never called back, never answered emails, etc. So we called and got a new rep, the current guy, he said the chick is still there but has done that numerous times where she doesn't return to accounts and whatnot. He promised he wouldn't be that way.
He's been good to us so far, but sometimes it takes him weeks to reply to emails about new devices, etc. We have it setup now where we have a standing PO #, I just call, say I need xxx devices with data/phone/etc and within a few days they're at my office. Don't get me wrong I hate dealing with people when it comes to stuff like this, I know what I want, I don't need accessories, here's my order, get it to me. But after about a month of not ordering I hadn't heard from our rep, no check up/follow-up to say "Hey, hows things going, how do you like the 8700?" etc. I send him an email asking about availability of some older units (7290's and 7100g's, if they can still even get them?) and no reply. I ended up calling our zone rep and he got me the order. I havn't complained yet about this current guy, mainly because he also works with our Telecom department on the corporate phone plan, and the lady in that department said hes sort of "ignoring" her as well.
All of this started when I saw the free headset offer and asked him if there was anything he could maybe do for us.
Was I wrong? I've dealt with software/hardware vendors who frequently toss out promo items, t-shirts, pens, heck even one guy would take us to Cubs games every once in a while. I'm not asking for that, but hell some sort of "Thanks for helping me meet my sales volume this quarter" lunch would be good enough for me.
Is there really anything I can do? Would it benefit me to see about getting another rep?
