Default My Blackberry, new to me

Please Login to Remove!

This is my first Balckberry....I bought it off of Ebay, I am very happy with it so far.

I do have a few questions....

I have my own server and do my own hosting and email. It is hard for me to either drop a few grand to do it myself or to get a hosting account (since I have not done this in years) but I might get use to it....still thinking...

So I am intrested in trying a few other things on it. Like can I use an existing account? I assume I have to have Cingular enable my BB service for me. I have not called them yet....as of now it is just a phone and PIM....

I have read a lot here already so thanks to all....I do know how to read stickys and search so I have been doing that too....

Do some searches, you will find allot of info here. To answer your question, you have to have a provider, any can do, I would pick one based on coverage/pricing that works for you, or if you currently have a provider, that will probably work to. Since you bought the phone off ebay, is it unlocked? If not, you either have to get it unlocked or pay for an unlock code or use the provider that the BB is locked to.

Once you get a provider, you will get a email addy of [email address] or something like that. Most people don't really use that email addy direcrtly, but just forward all existing mail to it. Therefore, no one really knows you are reading and sending email from your office or boat.

Mitch,

Thank you for the reply. It is not unlocked but I have Cingular service and it is a Cingular Phone. I guess I have to contact Cingular and have them get me a BB acount.

It looks like I have a choice 39.95 for 4 m and 49.95 with unlimited....not bad.....and you say that when I do this I will get a blackberry email address and then I can forward any email I want to this address. AND that email to this "new" address will come to me using Push technology, yes?

This might be what I am looking for......I am not sure I need Hosted Exchange access...although it would be nice.....lol
