Default Why has my email stopped coming to blackberry curve 8520?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all..
am new to forum and had to sign up to see if you could help.
I am a first time BB owner and have it about 4 weeks, set up 3 email accounts on it (one business(thru outlook express), one private (hotmail) and one supplied by my provider (o2mail)

On tuesday mid afternoon I noticed that my emails had stopped coming thru from my business email address so I test sent messages from my other accounts and found i was neither able to send or recieve on any account except my provider account was able to send but I could only recieve them by logging on. I went to the help site and they gave me a series of task to perform to help and I did all of those (reboot. resend service messages, deleter and reset accounts, resend service books, check settings were ticked to "keep message on server" ) and still no joy so today i spent an hour on the phone to a very helpful lady at o2 who was able to get 2 out of 3 accounts working again (all but the business one ) and suggested i ring my business email host to see if they had blocked emails from coming to handhelds.. lo and behold they said no that if it goes from host to outlook then it should move to my blackberry so long as all the settings were correct so again we checked them and agaon no joy!

I have tried everything! and cannot figure out what is going on why would it suddenly stop working after 4 weeks and why just my business account when the only reason i bought a BB was so that I could have access to my emails!

Frustration is not the word. Help appreciated and badly needed!

Welcome to the forums.

Is your business account on a BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server)?

If so and you can send but not receive, try this: Go to Messages > Options > Email Settings > Menu Key > Folder Redirection. From there, make sure there's a check next to mailbox.

If you can't send from that account, do you get a red X? If so, open it and list what it shows next to status.

Hi thanks for your reply and your warm welcome!
no unfortunately my business account is a pre existing account that I have thru my website host (digiweb.ie) so my email account is thu a server that goes mail.businessname.com . it is set up on outlook as being an pop3 account and works well. It also worked perfectly until 2 days ago on blackberry, I am not getting red x on the BB either . just know that they are not sending by sending to my other accounts and checking on laptop if they have been recieved. it could be a bad connection through your carrier. try having your server books re-sent to you. all you need to do is call the carrier and ask. you might be able to do it without calling but t-mobile told me i have to call in to get them re-sent.

No, you dont have to call your carrier to resend your service books.
You can do it through BIS page.

Is it the carrier supplied account that is causing trouble or a POP or IMAP account.

Default E-mails

Hi Dubdub,

I'm having the same difficulties. Whenever I roam, I lose my e-mails which are set up on Digiweb as POP3 accounts for about a day, and yesterday whilst driving back from Cork, I lost them again for apparently no reason.

With the help from O2 today we have replenished the service books twice and only my o2mail.ie accounts work whilst the other's don't.

According to Digiweb info the accounts are POP3 whereas the e-mails set up on the Blacbberry say they are IMAP.

Any clues?

I suppose I could forward all e-mails to my o2mail.ie account but isn't that defeating the whole purpose of the Blabkberry?

Well first of all, it is bad manners to hijack another's thread. The preferred approach is to use the SEARCH feature and our FAQ to find a solution. If none, then start a thread with your problems and what you have done so far to resolve it.

I would delete your IMAP email accounts and re-add as POP. BB doesn't do true 2 way IMAP with all ISPs yet.
