Default I have an iPhone....

Please Login to Remove!

I have an iPhone 3G. I'm getting bored with it though. I've really been looking at the 9700. I can get a refurb from att for 30 bucks. I mostly text and watch youtube with my iPhone. Would the blackberry be a good option for me? I wish there was a way to test one out before I make the choice to buy one. My local ATT store has display models but they are display only. They don't work to test if you like it or not.

Wirelessly posted (well lookie here!)

Texting on a BB is nice. If you use youtube a lot in my experience the iPhone wins

To test go to an actual ATT corp. Store they should have live models!

The video capability of the 9700 is great, but probably will be a let down for you compared to the iphone. But if having a keyboard will make up for it, then maybe you'll be happy. I really recommend you find a way to actually try one out yourself before buying.

You can switch to the BB and use for some period of time, used to be 30 days but check it out. And then return it if you didn't like it.

And remember, ATT requires that you have a BB data plan with the device, whether you need/use data or not.

If you are getting bored of your Iphone, then just wait until you get a BB, youll think your on a commodore 64, thats boring and old.

RIM is like the new Palm, no research in motion, more like research in molasses!

I think that there are many here who will disagree with this opinion. But to each his or her own. The BB is not for everyone for sure. It just depends on what you need and how you plan to use it.

I was just joshing..... I do use an iphone and ipad, but was BB fan for so many years since they were first introduced. I do miss the keyboard, but really wish they would get with technology and come out with something that can compete with the rest of the smart phones. All in all, the BB is a fine device, and yes, it all depends on what the user wants it for.

I do miss it sometimes....

Not accurate! You do not have to have a data plan to use a Blackberry! only if you want to have access to internet or not be charged for downloads. My daughter has my old 8330 and only uses it for texting, and sending mms messages and we have family text, has for a year. I even called At&t to make sure they had her IMIE number correct. Still did not require me to get a bbpackage for her phone.

Apparently there are exceptions, and you are not the first to raise one. But that does not mean that AT&T isn't forcing a data plan on new customers or under other circumstances. By what I'm reading, you really are the exception and not the rule.

The exception is probly a contract signed before they started forcing data plans on phones
