Default 2 quick questions about upgrading my phone

Please Login to Remove!

I'm switching from an 8830 world phone to a 9630 both running BES. Since I'm running BES is there any need to move the sim card over from the 8830 to the new phone or can I just use the new one provided? Also will the device switch wizard move everything from the old phone to the new one... including old SMS messages?

Thanks

Welcome to the forums.

No, the SIM card is just for international use. You don't need to move it over unless you have it activated. If not, then don't worry about it.

The Device Switch Wizard will move all of your data/settings/3rd party applications over. This includes SMS. I would recommend doing this prior to setting the new device up on the BES.

Thanks! The old card is activated, but I think I'll just leave it with the old phone... might as well start fresh.

I just used the device switch wizard then set up BES and everything went smoothly except for my contacts. For some reason they were all doubled on both the phone and on Outlook...

That's pretty odd. Clean them up on Outlook as ti would be easiest.
