My blackberry is attached to a company enterprise server. Our calendars and email are all in sync.

My wife and family use google calendar. I wanted to add the google calendar to my BB. First I tried to use the Google Sync program. But what happened is that all my family events ended up with my business events so my coworkers could see all the events.

I ended up getting rid of that program. Then I read someplace that if I add my Gmail account then my calendars associated with my gmail account will also sync. So I added the gmail account. The calendar is listed on my blackberry but there are no items. In addition when I went into the options unlike my corporate calendar, there does not was no pull down for wirelessly synch calendar. How can I get this to work?

First of all, since you are on BES, the device most likely has an IT Policy which can limit what you can do. Your first option should be a chat with the BES Admin to see what is allowed and what isn't. There may be work arounds, but it generally isn't advisable to circumvent corporate IT Policies, particularly if you would like o keep your job.

Something to think about: Many of us feel that you really should not put personal data on a device connected to BES, especially if you don't want it co-mingled with your work data. If you need your personal calendar, email, etc., it is just easier and safer to get your own personal device.

Your setup will work fine, but you missed one crucial step.
Before you install Google Sync, you need to make sure your default calendar on the handheld is set to the Gmail calendar.
Options > Advanced Options > Default Services
set Calendar (CICAL) to your Gmail account.

After that's set, Google Sync will behave and your two calendars will be kept separate.

You will be lucky if you can change CICAL! On my OS4.5 I can highlight the entry but not change it.

If anyone knows a fix for this it would be appreciated.

If you can't change it, that means you only have one CICAL service book on the handheld.
As far as someone being "lucky" if they can change it... well that's just an ignorant statement.

You are right I only have one CICAL entry but that is pointing to the wrong account so needs to be changed.

So let me get this straight. I still need to download google sync? I thought adding the gmail account was in place of the using google sync?

Yes, you need to add your Gmail account also.

I do not have Gmail on my BB and I use Google calendar sync for two between the BB and Google Calendar.

Thank you- You rule worked like a charm! One other question. I noticed that the colors of the different entries are very faint. If I change to a different theme will the colors be more pronounced.

You don't have your Gmail account integrated with BIS?

No, themes won't change the calendar appearance. We're stuck with the colors and hues that RIM gave us.

And your Google calendar syncs over the air? What about your BES calendar?

I don't use BES, but Google Cal syncs OTA to my BB, Mac laptop and desktop, and with a windows PC and laptop.

BES could put an extra restriction it?

Ah, well that explains it.
You don't have a [Desktop] CICAL service book because you're not on BES.
There's no need for you to go messing around with the default services setting because you only have one calendar on the handheld.
The OP is on BES so your setup would not work for him/her.
