Question Blackberry Messenger...

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all, sorry for the post if it is in the wrong section, Im new to this so didn't know where to place my thread.

I am purchasing a Blackberry 8520 white tomorrow maybe through the post.
I jus wanted to know more about the Blackberry Messenger.
Because lots of people say that it charges some special blackberry sim, and some people say it works for them on pay as you go.
I am on Pay As You Go myself and I get Unlimited internet on 02 everymonth as long as I top up 10 a month..
Will my Blackberry Messenger still work seen as though I get unlimited internet or does it only work through signal?

Any help required please

You could have combined this one with your other question about data plans since the answers are closely linked. What is a data plan?

You must have a Blackberry data plan to use Blackberry specific features including Blackberry Messenger. If you have regular Internet, that doesn't work. I believe some of the carriers in the UK have something called a "Blackberry Bolt-on" that adds the Blackberry features. Can't remember if O2 is one of them.

O2 offers a Blackberry Bolt-On
(T-mobile uk call it blackberry booster; and I dont know what other uk networks call it).
They only offer it on contract or Simplicity SIM Only plans; not PAYG.

A simplicity SIM Only plan is the closest you'll get to PAYG with the benefit of a Blackberry Bolt-on.

Also its around 5 a month on most UK networks; and free on certain O2 contract plans above a certain amount (or was before their plan restructure)
