so I just installed windows 7 on my laptop. I've used microsoft outlook in the past but as we all know it was replaced with live mail.

Is there anyway to get the blackberry software to recognise live mail?

If not what do you recomend as a replacement. I'm seeking to primarily be able to sync my calender. Google calender? Something else?

As far as I know, the BB DM software does NOT recognize the Live Mail product. I would still recommend Outlook. If you had Office (including Outlook) before you upgraded, you should still have it available to install/use, correct?

Actually, Outlook Express was replaced by Windows Live Mail. You still get Outlook with Microsoft Office.

And fonejunkie is correct, DM does not support it yet. Might look at Google calendar sync as an alternative. You can use the SEARCH feature and or Google Search for more info..
