Spam did not cause the phone to white screen.
Overview
After connecting a BlackBerry smartphone to the USB port of a computer, the BlackBerry smartphone shows a white screen and does not display the Connecting to Desktop or Connected to Desktop screens. However, BlackBerry Desktop Manager displays the BlackBerry smartphone's personal identification number (PIN) as being Connected.

Cause
There are multiple causes for this error.
There is a problem with the BlackBerry smartphone's backlight, which could have been caused by a power surge on the USB port.
There are missing .cod files on the BlackBerry smartphone.

Resolution
Complete the following steps to resolve this issue:
Run Application Loader to reinstall BlackBerry® Device Software on the BlackBerry smartphone. .
If the issue still persists, run javaloader by typing a command with the following format:
javaloader [-u] [-p<port>|<pin>] [-b<baud>] [-d0|-d1] [-w<password>] [-q] <command>
Reinstall BlackBerry Device Software, as per step 1.
If the issue still persists, contact your service provider for further instructions.
White screen on my BB 8900 Curve 
. From what I have read about this issue, even if I did reload the OS...the problem would continue. What I am looking for is an explanation as to "WHY" this is happening and is RIM or BB looking into a recall or a GOOD FIX for this problem? For the record, I have seen this same issue on several phones here in Bolivia (South America). Any info would be helpful as I am trying to get my local provider to replace the phone and they are trying to tell me that "spam" caused this
