Email setup issues, i dont see half the options mentioned.. Hi all, I recently got the BB data plan activated from my service provider (Vodaphone) I got an intimation from them as well that the plan has been activated.. So i set out to try and configure my email accounts and then i see that my device shows totally differnt options than what i could find when i searched for 'email setup' on google. These are the steps i followed. 1. Setup> Email Setup. Here almost any google link that teaches how to configure an account shows different options than the ones i have.. But my device has only one option when i click on Email setup. ,ie: 1. I want to use work email account with bb enterprise server. If i select that then i see get an option asking me if i have an activation code.. (Which was not given to by my carrier). When i choose 'no' im taken to WI-FI config modes... Whats happening? Can anyone please help me set it up? Thanks. |
Sounds like they may have screwed up and assigned a BES data plan to your device. Call them back, explain to them what you wrote to us and I'd be willing to bet the provisioned your phone incorrectly. Just a hunch. |
BES includes the ability to use BIS, so the personal option should still be available. Do a battery pull and then check. Its possible the service books havent pushed to your device yet. Also try Options - advanced - host routing table. menu - register now Are you getting GPRS EDGE or 3G in cap letters in the left hand corner? |
|
MidnightDraven: Im getting EDGE in caps. But thats beside the tower level indicator , on the right hand side. And i did try 'register now' But before that when i opened the host routing table.. I was able to see, "GPRS IN [404] [and some no] I tried register now.. then i got a msg that said my device is registerd.. (I had got this earlier also). Yet when i naviagated to "Email setup" i still see the same options. Nothing different |
Ah great after the 404 error , I tried to use the link you to set up the service.. And this is what i got... Code: This BlackBerry(R) device is not registered with your wireless service provider. |
Your data plan is not associated with your account. Call Vodafone back and ask again. Also try logging into your BIS page at Vodafone and re-enter your PIN and IMEI. Then re-send your service books. |
