You can text message easy enough. When you add in their mobile number to the address book, you will see a new option to SMS [user] when you click on their name. Just type in what you want them to see and they will receive it on their phone.

Look in the aftermarket forum for options for IM, there are quite a few decent ones out there such as Verichat, WebMessenger, IM+ and others. Most of them will cost you a few dollars (maybe the price of a good haircut), but are well worth it.

Simply adding it can be done by entering it in the email address book field. As far as using it, you'll need to setup BWC with your provider providing you have an email addy that support some version of web-based email (hotmail, yahoo, etc) or imap or pop3 connections. You'll probably find more detailed info on your provider's website (search for BWC) on setting those up

SMS is not supported by Nextel on these.

You can get incoming SMS's but it won't say who they came from. There is no integrated option to SMS out from a Nextel Blackberry, you'd have to use teleflip or email [email address] and make sure everyone SMSing you knows to identify themselves.

We found this out the hard way when Tmobile users upgraded to Nextel phones.

BTW: I've tried using teleflip but the phone never the message.
