Default 9700 - Can't see who is sending me an email

Please Login to Remove!

My partner has a 9700 and I have a 9000
He has set up gmail to come through his push email account, which is working fine

the problem is it doesn't display who has sent him an email. it just says
SUBJECT (4)

i realise its to do with Gmail threading, but is there anyway to change an option to be able to display who is sending

the weird thing is, I have a 9000, which also has a gmail account set up in my push and I have never had this problem, my emails come in one by one, no threading and I can see the contact name

ive searched high and low to find a solution. the closest I have is to uninstall and reinstall the email account and reinstall manually rather than using the gmail app plug-in, and type in the POP3, etc manually

I'm not a fan of Gmail's threaded conversation either. I believe the difference you are seeing is due to the fact the 9700 had the "Enhanced Gmail Plug-In". I've noticed the same on my 9700 and it is different from my prior blackberries.

I've noticed that the "combined" line only shows when I access the Gmail messages icon - if I access email through my normal Messages icon (I use BES email along with a couple of BIS accounts); my Gmail is not combined and I can see the Sender in the initial view.

Also - you probably know this - but if you click on the "combined" line - it will then show you each individiual email along with their sender.

I would try accessing the "Messages" icon first as opposed to the one for Gmail specifically and see if that works.

Good luck.

while in the email hit the BB menu key and select options. General options, then make sure the display order is set to name, subject.
