Default 9500 Storm won't load OS / can't connect

Please Login to Remove!

I've got a 9500 Storm that won't boot, probably as a result of a corrupt OS. I tried updating to OS5, but it interrupted during the process saying it could not reconnect. Trying to run the "loader.exe /nojvm" command results in a "unable to reconnect to the device during a multi-stage load operation" error. I also can't wipe with JL Commander using the "javaloader -u wipe" string (I'm on Windows 7 x64) as this results in a "Connecting to device...debug: COM error during Open: (0x80040001). Error: unable to open port" message.

I've got the latest version of the Desktop Manager and the device OS (for Vodafone UK) installed - downloaded both today.

Any ideas what has happened here and what I can do? It sound like the device is not properly connected, and yet the PIN is displayed at some stages. Starting Desktop Manager results in a "can't communicate with BB" message and it says no devices are connected at the bottom. No SIM is installed if that makes a difference. At this point I'm happy to wipe it clean and start over, so any ideas are much appreciated. Thanks!

Error message is: .

I get this if the BB locks. I enter the password to continue. Also be sure the password is entered before you start and make sure it did not re-lock.
