Thumbs down Optus Sim Cards ..what a piece of junk! Insert Sim Phone stops working

Please Login to Remove!

So I buy my first blackberry for a work project. After 3 hours reloaded operating systems following multiple known bugs and I discover the phone only works with the Sim card OUT!!

As soon as i take out the sim card the screen lights up and I can see all the applications....but the sim card is out....I need a phone...

So I load the sim card again and get a red light with a 3 second white screen flash about every 20 seconds.

How can you sell stuff that takes 4 hours to get working? and then still does not work. I am patient but 4 hours is a joke.

My first Blackberry experience has been very black

Peter

I don't know. I guess user error never ocurred to you?

If you just want to vent, you should be in Rant and Raves.

Not venting, want a solution! and no, user error is not the issue today, I run a business with thousands of customers and understand "user error" all to well.

I am simply looking for a solution as to why my phone after inserting sim card fails to work....not a vent .....just want the product I purchased to work.

Boy, I don 't think that the 1st thing I'd do with any new piece of equipment, unless I was very familiar with it in a general sense, would be to reload the OS. My guess is that something went haywire there.

Have you/did you try another SIM before you started putzing with it?

Or, are you saying this problem with the SIM occurred later, and you started putzing because of another problem?

How about just taking it back where you got it from and get a different one?

I'm thinking if the device boots ok without the SIM installed, then the first thing to try is see what happens with another SIM.

It was virgin out of the box, the problem i encountered was word for word in a forum solution, however after following the 30 steps to resolve the issue which included loading the latest OS as well as device manager the problem remains.

great idea try another sim card.

Thanks for the idea, will try and let you know.

after inserting sim card, loading battery following the instructions to the letter, screen flashes white about every 20 seconds and in between the red light (top right) flashes.

Despite following a solution in the forum i still have the original issue, it is only after i pulled the sim card as I was going to return the phone today (bought yesterday) that i discovered the phone works fine without the sim card but as soon as i insert the sime card the original problem occurs.

This occured out of the box before i did any OS restore

So, you had the issue with the SIM card with the stock blackberry right out of the box ... If it doesn't work with another SIM, then I agree, take it back for an exchange.

I don't follow. Can't you just get another SIM card from your service provider? My assumption is the one you have is boogered somehow.

Sounds to me like the SIM was junk, not the BB. Glad this makes it work.

Don't leave the store until you've installed the new SIM and verified everything is working.
