Default Opera Mini 4 and 5 problems.

Please Login to Remove!

Ok my first post so don't hate on me too bad! Ok so I have a BB Storm, the 1st edition one not the second. Well I am trying to download video files, sometimes they work in my BB browser as long as they are not too big. So I hear from everyone that Opera mini fixes that so I DL Opera Mini 4.(newest update) and when I select a video file it says invaild character. And I cannot edit the title. So I dl Opera Mini 5 the storm version one and go back to the vids and I click to save to my videos or SD card I've tried both. But the videos just stay in the download que with no progress to them. Anyone have any light they could shed plez?

I don't know opera mini at all (never used it for more than an hour the several times I've given it another try), and I don't know what you might have read or been told, but there are video formats the blackberry does not support. One of those is flash.

I suspect you are trying to view such a video, and the browser you use isn't going to make a difference.

If you give an example, someone will be able to give you better advice.

Their not flash videos. They are downloadable vids I can DL in my BB browser as long they aren't too big. Then I run into my opera problem with anything else.

I don't follow.

Video does not play in the browser -- that is no imbedded video other than maybe an animated gif -- instead the device opens and plays video in the media player. I assume opera doesn't play imbedded video in the browser either.

There are sometime formats, like mp4 that should play, but don't. I've found the 9700 is less trouble in these instances than my 8820 was.

So, what is it about your issue I'm not following?

I really don't see how opera mini would or could make a difference.

For what it's worth, I had a mp4 video podcast that wouldn't play. Actually, I got the audio track, but black screen for picture. Experimenting, I used media manager or whatever it is in desktop manager to 'convert' the video for blackberry, and it somehow fixed the mp4. It was still an mp4, but it played. It really wasn't worth the time because it took as long to convert as to just watch it on the netbook. But there you go.

I think your issue is something with the original file, and not your browser. One thing you could try is upgrade your OS to the latest version for your model, if that's an option for you.
