Default Contact sync gone haywire

Please Login to Remove!

Have a user that has a Curve (sorry, I don't know the model off hand), but is using Desktop Manager v.5.0.18. The carrier is Verizon.

When I setup the sync on Desktop Manager, the two-way worked fine on the calendar items it looks like, but it only copies 30 contact out of 100+ she has on the phone.

I looked through any settings to see if there was anything weird but didn't see anything.

The only thing that came to mind is the possibility of any contacts being stored on a sim and not on the device and perhaps that could be excluded from a sync. I say that not knowing the Desktop Manager's approach, so it may sound crazy.

Anyway, any ideas?

Thanks,

C.

Were there any error messages? This could tell us if the contact database on the phone was messed up.

I got no error indication when doing the sync. Is there an error log associated to the Desktop Manager and if so, what is the path to that log?

I can look at the log after I sync by going to the Sync options and clicking on view log.

The weird thing is I'm not getting any errors in the log.

The scenario is the Desktop Manager is reporting only 30 contact items when there are well more than this is her address book to sync.

The sync consistently says the same 30 when you re-try and I don't get any error at all. It just finishes overwriting the same 30 in Outlook.

Any ideas?

Well, the only Verizon phones that would have a SIM card are the Bold, the 8830 and the Storm devices; the Curve wouldn't have a SIM card. There was also a post on this site within the last week or so that indicated that there is currently no way to transfer contacts from the device database to a media card. Are all of the contacts in the contacts app on the device? Is it possible the user imported the missing contacts ( at the Verizon Store) to the device from another phone? I know that will mess things up some times.
