Default Email Icon Alerts

Please Login to Remove!

Although I want to be able to access my email on my BB, I don't want the icon on my "home" page telling me I have new emails and displaying the number of new emails I have. It makes it far too tempting to look at them, when I have other things to do! I know it's probably because it's brand new, and I am constantly playing with it, and I'm sure iI'll grow out of it. I have disabled the alert tones, but wish to get rid of the icon.

I'm not really sure how to do this. The only way I can think of, is making a new profile and prioritise what alerts I want and don't want (ie SMS/MMS, Twitter, but not email etc etc)
But as I've only had my BB less than a week (and it's my first), I don't know how to make a new profile.
Tips would be gratefully received.

Open the mailbox. Select menu (the button next to trackball/trackpad with seven dots.) Select Options. Select General Options. Under Display Message Count, set to None. The icon should go away.
