Default Perplexing problem

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Blackberry Bold 9700, the browser works fine,
the email works fine, Google Talk works fine, but AIM
instant messenger and ICQ don't work. Both say data
service not available. Now it is available, the browser
finds it ok. How do I fix this?

Start by calling AT&T and see if your data plan is provisioned properly.

This is the not the first step.

The first step is to pull the battery. If that fails, log into the AT&T BIS site and resend the service books. If that fails, reload the OS. If all of those fail, then contact AT&T.

I am having the same problem with Instant Messenger. My Blackberry froze last night and my support desk (I have a state-issued Blackberry) told me to do a hard reset by pulling the battery. I did that and everything now works again EXCEPT Instant Messenger. Any suggestions? My carrier is Sprint/Nextel.

dc's answer above may apply. But did your IM app ever work? I'm wondering if you are locked down with an IT policy.

aiharkness, thanks for the reply. No, I don't think I am encumbered by any policy. My IM app has worked fine since I first got the Blackberry about 13 months ago until the unit froze yesterday and I gave it the hard reset this morning.

I recommend following dc's advice. If you have done a good long battery pull, with the power on, then maybe time to think about doing an OS re-install.

By the way, is this BBM we are talking about, or is it yahoo, AIM or something like that? And have you tried deleting the app, followed by a battery pull, and then reinstalling the app and trying again?

aiharkness, this is most defintely BBM, not Yahoo, AIM or anything else.
