Default BES to BIS?? how to?

Please Login to Remove!

My BES service is acting up. the server needs some sort of patch that is not being done for fear of messing up the "tree?" whatever that means
How do I setup my blackberry for BIS on cingular? And disable BES...
here is what I figured so far:
1)go to cingular BIS site and register PIN and IMEI number.
2)BIS service books get pushed to Blackberry.
3)delete the CMME service books from blackberry from BES
4)??????

now I'm lost Or is a better bet to erase the blackberry and start over. reinstall desktop manager and set it as a BIS device? How would I get the contacts and other data back to my blackberry? If I set the desktop manager as BIS would it know to import all the info from my outlook?
the final step I know would be to forward a copy of all exchange email to BIS address. It's the in between that I cannot figure out.

any help is appreciated.

thanks, Roger

If you are on a corporate BES, first thing I would think you would need to do is get a blank IT policy sent to the BB and removed from the BES plus get your BES service books removed from the handheld. At that point you are starting from scratch as a BIS startup. Install the DM (BIS only version) on your PC that your BES is currently sync and resync, do your steps 1 & 2 above, forward your pop3 mail to your BB email addy or poll the mail from the BIS.

Now the experts here may explain the real truth to removing a BB from a corporate BES, especially if there are security issues and procedures involved
