The keyboards on one is flat and the other curved. Which one is better for quicker typing out messages? Which has a less problematic keyboard. Users of both keyboards?

I've used 'em both and I WAY prefer the 9700-style keypad. It makes a world of difference to have a keypad you're comfortable with. But it's such a subjective call that you really need to check them both out yourself and fondle them. Send a few test messages. Spend as long as they will allow you at a local store with each model.

Here's a Side-by-Side Comparison of the 8520 vs. 9700. Spec for spec, the 9700 is the clear king of the hill. The real test, however, is what you're more comfortable using.
