Have you tried Ramble IM...its free and a great app, it is only for AIM though. Yak-on is 19.95 I believe, it works on AIM/MSN for IM. If more questions about either of these 2 applications, do a search on here and you'll find the info you need on them.

In all fairness to IM+ (Shape Services) and other instant messaging software vendors: In addition to the cost of developing the software, these companies maintain servers which facilitate your IM sessions--the clients do not communicate directly with the IM services.

Obviously there are costs associated to maintaining such things...and IM+ is a one-time charge. Compared to others such as Verichat, which has an annual fee.

i use verichat, and for $35/yr.. that works out to $2.90/month. A helluva lot cheaper than paying for SMS from your provider. I think its a good deal.

New to the game...I use Ramble IM with AIM and its okay...but everyone here seems to like VeriChat. That would be my alternative.

Time for a stupid question....What does SMS stand for anyway? LOL!
