Default Cannot find Outlook when setting up in Desktop Software

Please Login to Remove!

I have a BB8330 Curve and am trying to sync my Outlook Calendar and Contacts. I downloaded Desktop Software from the BB website for 8330. When I go to set up, I do not find Outlook as one of the options. Can anyone please help? Thanks.

Welcome to BB Forums.

What version of Outlook and what version of Desktop Manager are you using?

Is it the 32 or 64 bit version of Office. Note that Desktop Manager cannot see Outlook 64 bit. In fact, no 32 bit programs (Adobe Acrobat as an example) can see Outlook 64 bit.

The problem above is with my husband who just purchased a new PC (Windows 7 Professional operating system) and is trying to sync his BB 8330 with Outlook trial 32 bit. I was able to sync my BB 8330 with my Outlook 2010 Trial version which is 32 bit also. My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium.

Default Solution!!

I finally fixed my issue. when I installed Office 2010 on my new computer, it automatically installed a version called "Click to Run" I uninstalled Office 2010 and then used the following steps to download to regular 32bit version.

*********
If Office 2010 Click-to-Run does not meet your needs, you can uninstall it.
Then, install Office 2010 by using a method other than Click-to-Run. To do this, follow these steps:

Uninstall the Click-to-Run version of Office 2010 from Control Panel.

Visit the site where you purchased Office 2010, and sign in with the same Live ID that you used when you first purchased Office 2010.

Click the My Account link at the top of the home page to access your Office downloads.

Click the Download button for the suite that you purchased, and then click the Advanced Options link under the Download Now button.

There is a version of Office 2010 listed that is not Click-to-Run and that does not require an available Q: drive.
****

One easy check to see if you have the same issue I had is to click on the Windows Start Menu and then select Default Programs. If Microsoft Office does not show up...you are probably running "Click to Run" and need to follow the steps above to resolve.

mtw_5353, thanks for the info. I put the same problem on the Microsoft Outlook forum and go pretty much the same answer. Forwarded the info to my husband - don't know if he's tried it yet. Did not purchase software, just doing the trial for now so don't know if that makes a difference.

It worked. My husband had the click to run version and bought the CDs and it worked like a charm. Thanks for everyone's assistance!
