Default You are not connected to the wirless network??

Please Login to Remove!

Hello

Just got my 1st Blackberry, I got the 9700 and I'm really chuffed with it.

I got one question though, when I try to setup email or go into app world it comes up "your device is not connected to the wirless network", but my wifi is connected and i can browse the interweb fine.

Am i being stupid or something?

any help would be great!

Also any tips on good apps and themes would much appreciated.

Thanks

Do you have a BLACKBERRY Internet Service Data Plan from your phone network carrier?

Without the proper data plan, you will will not get BlackBerry Data features such as email push, BlackBerry App World and data applications even over WiFi.

wireless network = RIM's [read: blackberry's] servers and nothing to do with wi-fi.
To get connected to RIM's servers, see post #2.

I have data plan, but it is disabled when I am in roaming. I am connected to a WI-Fi network and Vodafone in Berlin. I was able to access App World and read my email, although my data transmission over GSM network was disabled. After I did an upgrade to new version of App World, I could not access it any more, but I can still read my mail which is being pushed to my mobile. Data transmission is still disabled when in roaming. If I enable it, I can access App World.

You cannot download applications with anything other than the BlackBerry Browser.

Or are you asking something else?

Default Re: You are not connected to the wirless network??

Hi - i`d also appreciate clarification on this issue. I have a new Torch and have always been on BES with full roaming and data. At home my network providers signal is negligible but my BB is locked onto the home WiFi. I can surf, read and send emails no problem. I CAN NOT open app world on the device without it crashing out with an error message (you are not connected to a wireless network). If i open app world on my desktop and login and then plug the device in i again get an error message if i try to access a new app on App world on the desktop (the device needs to be on a wireless network). It looks to me that App world (either on a desktop or on the device itself) absolutely requires that the device is connected to the service providers mobile network and pays no attention to wiFi. Please correct me if i am wrong (nothing changes if the mobile network is switched off on the device leaving "only" WiFi).
