Question Unable to upgrade my Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

I have a blackberry 8900 and I have bought it from the USA through Ebay. It is a T-mobile however it came unlocked.

I have been trying to upgrade by phone to version 5.0 but when I check for updates it keeps telling me that it is updated. The current version is 4.6.1.231 (platform 4.2.0.108).

Can anyone please tell me the reason for this??

Can´t I just update it the easy way through desktop manager or the blackberry website?

Did you even read the link JSanders provided?

The method provided in that link is the easiest and most reliable.

You stated above you have not been able to update that way. So, no, you can't. Use the directions I liked to you.

There are too many variables as to why you can upgrade your "easy" way, but you failed to post a lot of detail of your device OS, carrier, etc. If your carrier has not released the 5.0 upgrade, then your device will not recognize the OS5 upgrade as an alternative. If you don't have a BlackBerry Data Plan on your service provider account, you won't be able to upgrade to OS 5.0, so post some detail and let's see what we can help you with.
