Hi.

im using blackberry bold OS 5.0.0.656

Since the last couple of days, my BB will shut down automatically citing battery drain. but when i pull out the battery and reboot, it will work as usual.

The thing is, this happened to me many times for the last 6 hours and im tired of rebooting.

At first, i thought it was battery problem but when i change to spare bettery, same problem arose.

Can anybody tell me whats the problem?

Have you updated your OS recently? Maybe bad.

Either way I'd reload it with stable OS 5 and hope for the best.

it's a new bb9700 i just purchased. it was ok last week.

but i recently updated ubertwitter & BBM.

Do you think thats the reason?

thanks. but that still doesnt explain why battery drain happen often (in the span of every hour) and when i take out the battery and put it back, it will be back to normal condition.

If the blackberry is new, still under warranty, take it back for an exchange. Rapid battery drain could be because of apps running in the background and frequently hitting the network, or could be bad battery, but combined with shutting down as you describe is different, especially when it is happening with another battery.
