I have a 3G mobile plan which has a small data package that is part of the plan. If wishing to use a wi-fi connection so I don't exceed my data plan when connecting to the brower, how do I know which connection (wi-fi or 3G mobile connection) I am on?

Can any one help me with my issue?

Well, with several carriers, you need a BB data plan and the WiFi service books to get WiFi access. You should check with your carrier to see if it is required by them.

And you need a BB data plan for any RIM related service such as the bB browser, email, BBM, Facebook, etc.

If the WiFi icon is displayed and lit, then data should be using WiFi, with SHOULD being the operative word. However, if you only have limited data, make sure you check your usage often. It is really difficult to say precisely how dat flows.
