quick question: i am having TERRIBLE call volume; i can barely hear the conversation. turning the track wheel to full capacity doesn't help. does any have a suggestion as to what might be wrong and how i can correct this?

I found when I first got my blackberry, I was holding against my ear wrong wrong. I now dislike lending my blackberry to people who want to make a call because they usually have the same issue I first did until I got used to it.

I have a 7280 formerly with AT&T but now with Cingular. I keep the volume on 10 (rolled to the highest level) and still not desirable as a business phone. Any background noise around you causes you to see a corner and hunker down to try and hear. I truly wish BB could blend an excellent phone\email into one device... and by the way it automatically becomes a pager if the ring tones can become louder with "unlimited" repeats. I will risk the battery draining to have that feature because it will elimiate carrying another device. Two requests - PUMP UP THE VOLUME and unlimited repeat notifications.

I had the 7290 and now the 8700. The volume has def increased in the latter model

Thanks for the headsup. I havent experienced any issues thus far. Rings nice and loud. I usually use a HS500 though. So the ring volume and call ring volume are not really issues for me

I have owned the 7280 for about two years and I think it is time to look for a replacement but recently I put that on hold awaiting the outcome of the lawsuit. I like the new 7100 because they look more like a phone in hopes that it might have the desired features like a phone (loud volume, speakerphone, voice commands, repeat alerts, etc), however, the small keyboard, albeit smart, is of concerns given that I have large fingers. I will give the 8700 consideration after things settle down. I would be interested in anyone's view on the 8700 (positive or negative).
