Default BBM not working

Please Login to Remove!

I Have a Blackberry 8330 and I had BBM on it. I went to use the mesenger this morning adn now im not able to even open up the messenger. I click on it and it doesnt do anything. I tried uninstalling the messenger and installing it again. I tried memory cleaning, I took the battery out for a while and still nothing. Any other suggestions would be appreciated

You say "had" . . . Were you able to reinstall it after you removed it?

Is there anything else weird going on? Or just problem that BBM will not launch?

What is your free memory after a battery pull?

When you did the battery pull, did you do it with the power on? How long was a while? You probably should do it again, with the power on, and wait a minute or two.

If you have BBM installed again, to the battery pull again, with the power on, for at least a minutes. Then try BBM again, and let's see where you stand.

Removing the battery with the power on is the correct method for performing a hard reset. You did it right.

What about applications that you have running when you try and start BBM? Open the menu and select switch application. Scroll from one side to the other. What do you have running? Also, do you have anything that is set to run in the background when closed that may not show in the ribbon when you select switch applications?

I dont have anything else running.. when i go to switch applications the only icons that show up r BBM, Call log, Home screen, Browser, color ID and messages
even in my message section adn my email section my BBM used to show up there but now its not even displaying in those folders. Just on the Home Screen
and i dont think that I have anything set to run in the background

Ok. Let's try this. I may not know exactly how you see it on your OS version, but open the device options, then advanced options, then applications. Do you see blackberry messenger at all? If you do, remove it. I know you've done this already, but let's do it again. And if you see a second version of Blackberry Messenger with a different version that is also there, remove it too.

Now do a hard reset. Wait at least 30 seconds before you replace the battery.

After the blacbkerry boots up, check and make sure the blackberry messenger icon is not present.

If the blacbkerry messenger icon is not there, then we are going to install it again. But first, where did you get it before?

Ok so there was only one version of the BBM ob my phone I deleted it and it had to restart to remove the app. Once it restarted I took the battery out for 30 seconds and just put it back in. There is now no BBm icon. I got the BBM upgrade from Blackberry App World

Ok. Run app world again and install BBM. Fingers crossed. If it tells you that you will need to reboot or restart the blackberry, just wait until you get the screen to restart now or restart later, or whatever that screen says, and then click restart. After the blackberry reboots, see what we got.... see if BBM runs.

If you just get the screen that says the application was successfully installed, then click ok, close appworld, and lets see what we got.

I'm at a loss. I always hate to advise this, but if were me I'd say to heck with it and resinstall the OS. Someone may come along with a better idea, and you may want to wait and see what others say.

Are you running the latest OS version for your model?
