| Weak Ringer - Missing Calls :-( Please Login to Remove! I've set the profile on my Blackberry 7250 to "Loud", and for phone calls to ring at "High" volume.
Yet, the sound -- regardless of which ring I use -- is really quiet. I miss more than half of my phonecalls because if it rings when I'm in only a moderately noisy environment, I can't hear the thing ring at all.
Is there anything I can do to make this sucker ring louder?
Thanks for your help!
Chuck

Is there third-party software I can download that would help make this ring louder?
I've set it to vibrate/ring, which helps a bit, but I was hoping just to make it ring louder.
Do any other models ring louder than the 7250?
Thanks!

Chuck | My 8700 rings loud. I can hear it in my truck even with the cd player cranked way up.

| Well, I'm glad the 7100 and the 8700 rings loud. The 7250 ringer volume can be described as anemic at best.
I can't believe that this product was manufactured with such a low ring volume. I've searched through other postings on here, and it appears to be a common complaint with 7250 users.
That sux big time, IMO.

Chuck | The original concept (before BBs had speakers) was remote/push email. Phone operation was added later to compete w/other PDAs. It was also designed to be kept in its holster most of the time where vibration was the primary notification.
As suggested, get a newer BB (7100, 8700). | | Offline

Alternatively, you could visit http://davidenglish.com/wml/index.wml with your BlackBerry and choose "Non-Musical MIDI Ringtones."
Those ringtones are as loud as any you'll find for a 7200-series BlackBerry. If they aren't loud enough, your best option would be another phone (as mentioned previously).

Incidentally, is there somewhere on the forum where I can find descriptions of all those downloads available on your website?

The titles are a pretty good guide to how they will sound, and you can audition them on your BlackBerry browser before choosing to install them.

| For anyone having problems with ring/speaker volume not being loud enough even if your Profile is set to LOUD profile and all the volume controls are up, I called NEXTEL and got Blackberry Support on this issue. These are the steps she told me to follow: (do this while the phone is on)
1. Take your battery out.
2. Hold in the power button (located on the top of the 7100i model, hold it in for 30 seconds release...
3. Put your battery/battery cover back on and it will/should automatically boot back on, may take a few minutes and BOOM should notice a difference.
This is what is known as a "hard re-set".
I asked if there was a reason behind this and she said sometimes the device gets glitched up.
Sorry if this doesn't help some people, But it worked for me so I figured I would pass this along...!
Let me know if this worked for anyone.

Chuck | I'm not sure if this applies, but I had a similar issue with my 8700c where, on occassion, the ringer was not very loud. I read somewhere about a glitch in the OS where the ringer volume adopts the speaker volume. To resolve, just make a phone call, place it on speakerphone (as opposed to headset), turn the volume to the highest setting, then end the call. I did that and it resolved the issue - I know it's helped a lot of other folks I know but they all have 8700s. Give that a try. Good luck. | | Offline

| Alert and Standard are the loudest ringtones I have found to date.

| I had the same problem with my 7250.
What I did was download a new ring tone called "5 seconds 2 tone low"
I *think* this is where you can find it:
davidenglish dot com/ringtones.html
All I know is that it is loud as hell... and it lasts a long time (it rings for 5 seconds straight... pause for a second... and then 5 seconds again)
I use it for my alarm and my loud tone.. I can easily hear it 3 floors away. | | Offline

The better method for installing the ringtones is to visit http://davidenglish.com/wml/index.wml with your BlackBerry and choose "Non-Musical MIDI Ringtones." You'll find "5 Seconds 2 Tones Low" listed among the other ringtones.
