Default BB data plan vs normal/general data plan?

Please Login to Remove!

I read a few posts mentioning that these two plans are actually different. I'm got a bit confused. Didn't realize there was a data plan other than BB data plan.

Could someone please explain a bit what normal data plan is? Thanks.

On non-BB phones it allows surfing the web and running some applications such as gmail, etc. Does not include push email, pin-to-pin messaging, etc.

There are generic smartphone data plans which provide basic Internet and not much more for a BB.

And there is the BB data plan which provides the data you need and the service connection to RIM for email, BBM, Facebook, maps, etc. that are unique to the BB.

Check the FAQ for more info: What do I need a Data Plan for? - BlackBerryFAQ
