I am totally new to the Blackberry world so this maybe a stupid question. I tried to search for answers before coming here, so hopefully you guys can help. Does Blackberry make a device that does not include the phone (I know they used to, my mom has one) and if so where would you get service for it? Or, do you buy an all-in-one and just not use the phone part and then get your service through a cell phone service provider? I have a couple that are clients of mine and he wants his blackberry separate from his phone, she prefers to have it all together so I am trying to do some research.

Just don't activate the phone feature. Most, if not all BB's, now come with an intergrated phone. They 72xx series seems to be good for the "just e-mail" function and the 71xx series for the intergrated phone/e-mail, although they all have ther pro's and con's.

RIM makes a device that is data only and runs on the old Mobitext data only network. It is the model 5790 and is available from a few vendors.

Most of the devices have a phone built in. However, you can just get a data (GPRS) plan and not have a phone tariff.
