Default Is there an app. that will sync offline Outbox?

Please Login to Remove!

Is there an application out there (or another method) that will will allow me to sync my offline Outbox (messages waiting to be sent in Outlook while it's in offline mode) with my BB so that the messages can be sent immediately? We have BES, but see below why this doesn't help (that I can tell).

Scenario I'm trying to find a solution for:

User is on an airplane and type 20 emails. They sit in the Outbox until he can connect to Exchange. He would like to sync (or move the contents of, I guess) the offline Outbox while sitting on the plane so that the BB has the messages. the moment the plane lands and the BB gets a signal, the BB will send the messages via BES.

Anything that can do this?

Thanks for any info!
Oliver

I don't understand why someone who has a laptop working offline email via Outlook would care if his/her BB would have copies of the emails? Why not just get the latest sync of emails before going offline and reply/send from the BB?

you didn't read my scenario. they write tons of emails on the plane, and then want them sent ASAP. To do this with the laptop, they would need to get off the plane, find a wireless access point, pull out the laptop, connect to exchange, and wait for the mail to leave etc... This takes more time than they want. It's also useful if they are in an area with no Internet access other than via the BB.

Any reason why the emails can't be composed on the Blackberry itself?

I suppose what you could do is use the BB for tethering to the laptop once in coverage again...VPN into work, etc. This would remove the need for a hotspot.

Yep! They can't use the BB effectively because a) some of the emails are large and complex, and many include pictures, or other attached/embedded items. Very difficult to do on a BB...

Do you use some sort of tethering system? This might be a good alternative if I can't find an app.

Thanks for the help.

Most BB's and most carriers support tethering the BB as a modem for your laptop. This would be via a USB cable to the BB. The new 8700 EDGE or 7130e EVDO devices would be perfect for this.

You don't need any software to tether just a USB cable, but you may need a provider to set up the BB settings correctly. There is all of info in the FAQ about this "using a BB as a Modem".

In the solution you are looking for, even if you could get an app to sync the outlook mail to your BB, I am not sure that the email would be completely intact like you want with the attachments, pictures, etc. If you send a picture to a BB as an attachment and then forward that email back, is the picture still there?

Thanks,

I tried the tether config, and it works quite well. Too bad I have to reconfigure each time I switch networks though...

Thanks for the idea.
