With the introduction of BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) 3.2, users will soon be able to use BlackBerry Protect. This free service, only for BIS users, will allow you to make sure your BlackBerry and the data on it are always secure, even if you accidentally lose the device.

Features of BlackBerry Protect:

* Wireless Backup (contacts, calendar, tasks, notes, SMS, browser bookmarks)
* Remote locking device
* Startup Screen "Lost & Found"
* Remote start ringing loud
* Preview site
* Remote wipe
* Remote playback device content

Sounds like something we all will need. They have a spot to allow you to get an email for notification when released but it just links to RIM main site. Wonder if this is an AppWorld item.

I saw the same thing. Thought it might have been a typo or as you thought, an App World app. Did not pursue any further though.

The BlackBerry Protect service should be released to the public very soon. If youxxx8217;re still unsure as to what exactly BlackBerry Protect will be and its features, a nice FAQs page has been spotted.

This FAQs page is intended for the current Protect beta testers, but wexxx8217;re sure this system will be similar at its release.
