Default Problem creating new 4.1 BES for eventual 4.1.7 upgrade.

Please Login to Remove!

We are currently running 4.1.45 in our production environment. Due to the recent security vulnerability, I need to get to 4.1.7 so that I can apply RIM's patch. Rather than perform an in-place upgrade, we typically always create a new VM and get the BES updated to the appropriate version and then migrate users over to the new BES.

When attempting to install 4.1.0 on a new server, I wanted to create a new Blackberry Configuration Database on our SQL server. I had our DBA create a new blank database called BESMgmt2010 on our SQL 2005 server that I was planning to upgrade through the setup program using Windows authentication of the BESAdmin account. I've checked that the account has all the appropriate permissions on the SQL side as described in the installation guide (db_creator, serveradmin, sysadmin, and local admin), however I'm getting an error (18456 - DB Upgrade Failed. Error executing an SQL statement.) when attempting to perform the upgrade. I also tried creating a new database with a different name, but with the same result.

Is this because the new database is on the same SQL server\instance as our current production database? Is there another way I should try?

Default

Looks like this was the case...installed on a different SQL server with no problems.
