So that's the question... What's the craziest thing you've done to get cell signal?

Contraptions in our attic, antennas, climbed a tree?

Tell me about it.

Good Thread! Whenever I was without cell signal I knew I was miles away from having any chance, but when signal was low I have resorted to standing on top of my truck, leaving my BlackBerry in "hot" spots where a signal was found, etc. In Alqonquin National Park I had to walk to certain spots on the campsite to get signal.. usually had to go for a bit of a walk to.

I took my iPhone out of my hand and put it on the table.

When I was a teenager, I would drive 15 miles to town from my parents' lake house... I couldn't get text messages roaming on an analog signal at the house. LOL

Nowadays, they actually get AT&T EDGE at the house, but only by the front windows.

When vacationing on Cape San Blas years ago, I would send my blackberry to town every morning with whoever was going in. It would come back with fresh email.

When i was in the Rockies I had mounted a CB antenna and modified the frequencies for it to use as a tower.

Used my Verizon MiFi to connect to my AT&T iPhone to get my email while in Yellowstone National Park.

Not actually crazy however, but I had to do it!

Complained to my carrier until they installed an antenna 1/2 mile from my house. Ok, they didn't install it because of me, but I like to think they did.

Some years ago I had Cingular after they bought a local carrier and I could not use my phone at my house. I had to change carriers to get a signal.

I climbed a pine tree that was about 80 feet high. When I got to the top I was swaying back and forth maybe 4 feet each way. Bottom line is that the call went through and everything worked out.

I went up and down a glass elevator on a cruise ship. Of course, I dealt with people continually exiting and entering
