New to this forum and tried to search this topic but did not find the answer to my question. I have a new 9700 blackberry and I'd like to be able to see more than a couple of the threads when I read my sms texts. I have searched the help function and it directs me to go to home screen and options. The only options available to me are email. I have tried several other ways to get to "options" choice and can not find any link that allows me to change options on SMS, only email. Under Options I get: General Options which only gives me display and action options but none of these relate to the number of SMS messages I can receive for any one conversation. Thanks in advance for your help!!!!!

Options probably is referring to the Options icon, which is has a wrench icon.
From there, there is the SMS option.

On a new 9700 the "options" is under the setup icon.
these is no option setting that limits or sets the number of text messages you can scroll thru on a single message from a single person. the only limit is the size of the text message sent each time.

Not sure if this is what your asking.

Ok I'm in the wrench, and under SMS Text (only option with SMS) and have Screen options (conversation style and show names) and Message Options (data coding 7 bit or UCS2) disable auto tex, "leave messages on SIM card" yes or no, Network to send over and retries (0 to 5). am I still in the wrong place?

Lets say I have a text i started a few sweek ago and I go back and forth for days. When I go into my SMS inbox, out box or even if I saved it, all I can see is the last three or four responses. I can see the first few letters of the original text in the subject line but the history is completely lost. Does this make more sense as to what I'm trying to do? I want to be able to see the original text messages like I could with my old blackberry. Thanks again for your replies!

SMS messages are Theme controlled by default. I have 2 9700's and both display the past SMS messages and even list the dates. I do not see any options that could control this but one possibility, the option under General, SMS = Theme controlled, Combined or Seperate. Mine is set to Theme and displays all the messages. Maybe you can experiment a bit. If set to seperate, maybe it will show the messages past. Also if you are keeping the messages on the media card, is there space enough?

Thanks Tsac, I changed the settings so will see what happens going forward. Wish I could retrieve the history on some of the old texts in my saved file, oh well. Appreciate your help. This forum is almost as much fun as cruise critics but without the vacation!
