Default New to BlackBerry - Please help!!!

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Everyone,

My Windows Mobile phone has died and I decided to try a blackberry. I bought a used 8700 on eBay. I am on ASDA mobile pay as you go. All seems ok but I have 3 problems.

1. I am unable to browse using the standard browser. The icon is labelled Vodafone Live! but it does not work. 'Requesting' is permanently displayed on the bottom status bar. How do I get the browser to work?

2. The phone came with opera mini installed which is ok but whenever an app launches a browser, up comes the vodafone live thing with problem 1. How do I set Opera to be my default browser?

3. and finally, how can I manage multiple pop email accounts? I have found tiggit mail but have not been overly impressed with it. What do other people use? I know purchasers of new phones probably sign up to a blackberry service but what about pay as you go?

Thanks for your help.

For what it's worth, at the moment I find my device quite limited compared to winmobile BUT so far (4 days) it has not needed to be reset once and it is very responsive. Winmobile (V6.1) was very unreliable in my experience.

Welcome. Some comments.

1) The 8700 is 2 or 3 generations old. It is VERY old. Of course it will seem limited. It's ancient.

2) Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan (or whatever ASDA calls it), which is required to use a BlackBerry properly - including the browser and e-mail

Without a BlackBerry Data Plan it is an academic exercise.

ASDA do not support blackberries at this time, so you will not be able to get a blackberry data plan, to have access to the browser, push email, blackberry messenger and other data related products.

Default Thanks for the replies

As you have probably guessed, I didn't do any research into BlackBerry phones. I just didn't want another WinMobile. I assumed I could bung in my current pay as you go sim and surf and email via GPRS as with other phones.

Opera and Tiggit will have to suffice.

Thanks for the replies.

Lot of discussion on other Forums about ASDA capping the amount of data you can download so maybe they dont want to jump into the BB thing yet or ever.
