I have serveral blackberrys. For this issue I am testing with an 8800 and a new 9300. Windows XP Operating System with Blackberry Desktop Manager 6. Desktop Manager recognizes my 8800 but not the 9300. Device Manager shows the 9300 as Unknown RIM Composite Device. Again, the 8800 works fine.

Windows 2003 and Windows 7 recognizes both.

I have done a clean install of Windows XP and DM 6. Does anyone have any ideas?

Try DM 5 if you are running XP.

I am using DM 6 on XP and it works fine with a 9800 and 9000.

DM 5 has the same issue. It recognizes the 8800 and not the 9300. What I am trying to do is upgrade the 9300 to the latest version 6.x release. Under Windows 7 it stops and times out at loading RAM image. I've tried it on a virtual machine with Windows 2003 on the same computer and it does the same. I've setup a clean Windows XP install under VM on the pc and the mac using VM Fusion and I have the same issue. I have this other laptop that has Windows XP on it and my hope was to get Desktop Manager working with the 9300 so I can do the upgrade.

Any other ideas?

Try a different USB cable. And before you say "but it works on the 8800", note that I had a cable that worked with an 8310 but not a 9000. The cable I was having issues with was longer than the standard issue.

But if the cable works with Windows 7 and Windows 2003 doesn't that prove the cable is ok?

Odd, sounds more like a driver issue. Have you tried uninstalling the device from device driver, rebooting and then plug the 9300 back in?
