Angry mail showing as "read" in outlook mailbox

We have exchange 2003 and our three users with new blackberrys and all on BIS report that mail sent to their blackberry 9700s are showing as having been read in their MS Outlook mailboxes before they have been read in either location.That is, once they are sent to the BB device they are suddenly showing as read in mailbox-so very confusing for them if they are at work looking at their outlook mailbox. We may go to BESX anyway but is there a setting somewhere that will fix this annoyance.

Ok try this,

Two possible solutions.

Number one

When Microsoft Outlook retrieves email messages from a BIS Mail account integrated with the BlackBerry Internet Service, the email messages arrive on the BlackBerry smartphone with the status of read. This occurs without the BlackBerry smartphone user reading the email messages.
To prevent the email message from arriving with a status of read, complete the following steps:
1. From the Messages menu on the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options.
2. Click Email Reconciliation.
3. Set the Wireless Reconcile field to Off.
4. From the Email Reconciliation menu, click Save.
In some cases, the BlackBerry smartphone user must also set the Delete On field to Handheld

The second possible solution.

Overview

When the BlackBerry smartphone user receives an email message on the BlackBerry smartphone from an integrated Microsoft Outlook Web Access email account that is using a Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5, the email message is marked as Read on the Microsoft Exchange Server.
Cause
With the BlackBerry Internet Service, a new method of checking for email messages was introduced for Microsoft Exchange 5.5 email accounts. According to this method, when the email account is checked for new email messages, each new email message is opened before a copy is sent to the BlackBerry smartphone.

Resolution
There is no formal resolution available, as the BlackBerry Internet Service is functioning as intended.

To prevent this issue from occurring, the BlackBerry smartphone user has the following options:
xxx8226; Integrate the affected email account using Post Office Protocol (POP) or Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP). For instructions, see KB02189. On the RIM site
xxx8226; Set up a forwarding rule to a BlackBerry email address. For more information on forwarding rules and the BlackBerry Internet Service, see KB10979. On the RIM site
xxx8226; Upgrade to a newer version of Microsoft Exchange. For information, contact the Microsoft Exchange administrator.
