I'd sync them both to a single GMail account. Once both sets of contacts are in GMail you can sync a new device to that account and get the one large contacts list on your device.

You can backup both devices and then merge the ipd files using an ipd merger.

Free download ABC Amber IPD Merger, combine multiple IPD files into a single file
