Default Backup and Sync Issues

Please Login to Remove!

Working with a Curve 8330. Standalone (No BBS) to be synced with a single computer.

It was backed up and synced with computer that died. We had copies of the Outlook files from the old computer before it died.

I have a new computer setup with Desktop Manager. Outlook has been setup with the backup files mentioned above.

In the meantime, the Blackberry has been in use, getting new contacts, calendar entries etc.

Question:

I want to get things synced up again, but first I wanted to backup both Outlook (no problem) and the BB (a problem). In desktop manager, I can access the backup options, and desktop manager see the files on the BB... but on the left side of the screen there is just a blank window. I can choose "use the default Windows location for Backup" or select the location that is listed... but in either case the window stays blank... and I cannot browse to pick a new location or file.

What am I missing here?

Next... once I have a backup, I want to sync... but will the BB keep the existing contacts and add the new ones i.e. will Outlook and the BB be the same with the new contacts added on both? And how do I make that happen?

Thanks for what guidance or direction you can point me toward.

Default Re: Backup and Sync Issues

Try a backup and do a search for the file extension .IPD If it exists then you know where it is located.( just a test)
Once you have backup you should be able to sync the BB with Outlook but need to select the BB wins option to send the data to Outlook. If you can read the instructions for DM at the Blackberry web site.

Default Re: Backup and Sync Issues

The user installed an old version of desktop on a new Windows 7 - 64 bit machine. Once we updated to the latest version we were fine. Thanks.
