Default Need Help with connecting my 8800 to computer

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

I apologise for not going into a device specific forum but I could not see one for the 8800.

I have a blackberry 8800 V4.2.1.68 with an SMT date of 03/03/07 which I appreciate is an old version. I have a version of blackberry desktop manager (version 1.0.4 (build 10) updated today, on my Mac (OS X version 10.6.5) and in the top left hand corner under the blackberry symbol it has 8800 (205BB532) which is not a number I can find either on the phone or in options. I have tried two different USB leads neither of which has worked. I know the port on the computer works as it downloads from my camera and I know the port on the phone works as I can recharge it. I have done the obvious - taking out the battery, turning on and off the computer etc but am now lost. I had thought to download a new version of blackberry manager but it seems only to be for smarter models than mine and I do not use mine to get emails as I have an ipod touch. Any help for this silver surfer would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

That number in parenthesis next to 8800 above looks very much like a Blackberry PIN. It should match the PIN under options > status on the device. If it does match that of your device, then desktop manager is seeing it.

Also, suggestion, if that is the PIN of your device, I would suggest removing it from your post above or risk getting spam BBM requests.

The number, 205BB532, is the device PIN. To verify, hit ALT CAP H on the keypad. If the PIN is correct, the the device is recognized and connected.

What are you trying to do when you connect?

Sorry the computer crashed during my last post, power cut. I am grateful for your help but the number is not a PIN though it is not dissimilar.

They are referring to the alt button on the Blackberry to display the Pin. an easier way to display the pin, is to start an email compose and in the body of the email Type mypin and then hit the space bar on the bb and it will display the pin
