Default blackberry not showing up in devices on mac

Hey guys I am having some trouble with my blackberry pearl 8100.
I am running on a mac, all systems are updated, mac/blackberry, but when I plug my phone into my computer it does not come up in my finder, it only comes up in the task manager. I can back up my phone, and restore it, but i would really like to take my pictures off my phone and onto my computer.
any ideas how I can get it to show up as a device? or how I can get my pictures off my phone?
I went to this link, and this is my exact problem, but they only give resolution for PC's not macs.

What version of Mac DM are you running?

What Mac device and what OS is on it?

What BB are you actually using? Your profile says 8830 which is not a Curve.

You need to ensure that Mass Storage Mode is on.
