Angry Alltel Bold?

Please Login to Remove!

If you are thinking about an Alltel Bold, what they don't tell you is that it will not tether and at this time neither alltel or blackberry offer any support/help!

Hmmm, product on the market that does not function as advertised,,,, can you say SCAM!

Won't tether, or they charge to tether?

Also, blackberry (RIM) has nothing to do with it and therefore no obligation to you on this. Your gripe is with the service provider, and I wonder if you really have anyone to blame but yourself. Do you think Alltel tricked you? I doubt it.

Isn't Alltel part of Verizon? Your beef is with them.

The bold does tether and Verizon does offer it but for additional cost same as ATT.

Alltel data tech service quote, "The BB bold will not tether to a pc and we do not offer support for that issue. It is supposed to but we have never gotten one to work. Also BB offers no support for this issue."

An ALLTEL store manager confirmed this for me! Not all customers were switched to verizon and I am one of them, I still have to go to an alltel store for any product, support or service.

They did'nt trick me because I made them give me a Tour as tether is a requirement for me. They have always charged an extra $20/ month for tethering.

Both companies new of this problem and released the bold for sale anyway.
Just FYI

The "data tech" and the "store manager" are misinformed.

.... Also, RIM does support it. Tethering support is in Desktop Manager and user's will see it there unless their carrier blocks it.

Do your own research. Don't trust the stores.

Why would I lie to you about my experience replacing a phone under equipment protection?

My info is in my profile, and it doesn't matter. BlackBerrys--including the Bold, 1 and 2--will tether. RIM does support it, as I posted above. Alltel is in control of what you do on its mobile network and what they decide to include and what they intend to separately price. It has nothing to do with the BlackBerry device or RIM.

Other than who knows but you exactly what Alltel told you, and who knows what you understood, I don't believe there was any scam. But certainly there is not a case of a product on the market that doesn't function as advertised, except maybe for you on your chosen carrier's network.

..... By the way, fjs340, I didn't suggest you were lying. I was responding to Mama's too kind remark about the Alltel rep's being misinformed. I'm suggesting they would lie to make the sale.
