Hi,

I have had my bold for about 3 months now. I've never been able to use the internet etc unless i'm in the house and connected to UMA. I have downloaded a translator app that i also can only use in the house, not much use when I travel to Italy.
Anyway, i took it to an orange shop where i was told the problem. My phone wont stay locked onto 3G.
It seems to find it initially then moves to GPS followed by gprs.
Any ideas, this phone isn't much use at the moment.

First, do you have a blackberry data plan? Not the regular mobile data service, but the data service specifically for blackberry?

GPRS, EDGE, and 3G with the BlackBerry symbol all indicate data service with connection to the BlackBerry network, but just at different data rates, or "speeds." Dropping from 3G to EDGE or GPRS is not a problem other than you might notice slower downloads. If you drop to edge, or gprs, then you are no nolonger connected to the blackberry servers.
