Default Cannot Send Internal Emails

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Blackberry Curve. Up until Sunday, November 28th, I was able to send and receive all emails with no issues. However, on Sunday, emails I sent to co-workers on my domain will not send. They get a red X next to them. Nothing has changed with out network, nor have I changed any settings on my Blackberry. We are on an Exchange 2010 server. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be the problem? I'm new to Blackberry devices and I don't even know where to start looking. I've checked the email settings on the device and they are all correct. Is there a way to find out why they bounce back (error log or something like that)? I do not receive a bounce back reply message, the message I try to send just displays with a red X and it does not even reach our Exchange Server.

Have you tried a battery pull yet?

Are you on BES or using BIS?

Were you using Exchange 2010 before this happened?

Yes, we were using Exchange 2010 before this happened. I am using BIS. Some new information is if a new message is composed to someone, it will not send. However, if I reply to a message they send, the reply goes out. If I then compose a new message to that same person, it goes out. Very strange.

No, I have not tried a battery pull. I've been afraid to lose all my settings. Will they be retained if I remove the battery? Settings like wallpaper, email account, contacts, etc.

All the battery pull does is reboots it. Clear the memory. Its the first thing you should do if you have a problem since it fixes many ills.

With the device on, pull the battery for about 30 seconds. Put it back in and let it reboot.

I did the battery pull, and the problem still exists. But I've since discovered that it's not just internal emails not getting sent. Any emails I send do not go and I have the red X next to them. Like the internal ones, once I reply to someone's email, I can then compose new emails to that person. I thought maybe my contact list had gotten corrupted, so I was going to wipe it out on the device, then resynch with my computer. However, I tried to send an email to an address that is not in my contact list, and that one also does not go out (the dreaded red X appears).

Check to make sure that the setting for your default email address is in fact correct. I am guessing that somehow your default email address got changed, and when you try to send a new email it does not work properly.

Yes, my email settings are all correct. I even removed my email account from the phone and re-entered it. The problem still exists. I've reset my service book as well, that didn't solve the issue.

What model Curve do you have? Please update your profile with the model number, not the name.

Do a full back up of the BB as soon as you can, in case you meed to wipe or reload the OS.

Try another battery pull. Leave the battery out for a couple minutes. If you have an SD card, remove that and leave it out until it reboots to see if that is the issue.

Can you send and receive BBM messages? Are you in an area with good signal coverage?

Re-register on the host routing table.

Call Verizon to make sure the BB data plan is properly set up and activated.

I had a similar problem with my 9800. The only solution we came up with was doing a security wipe. But don't do that yet.

I spent over an hour on the phone with Verizon yesterday. I did everything they suggested and nothing helped. In fact, last night it got worse, I could no longer send emails even when replying (which was the only way I could email people earlier in the day). I spoke with the same technician at Verizon this morning (who was very nice). She finally determined what I had suspected all along. There is a problem with the phone. She is sending me a new one at no charge, I just need to send back my current one. If the new phone doesn't work, I give up.
