Sorry if this has been discussed previously but I can't find my answer...

When I try accessing my voicemail (which I need to activate), either by dialing my number or by typing-in ''voice mail'' the call is ''initiated'' but never goes through. I don't get a ringtone, just goes back to the home screen within 1-3 seconds. Everything is up-to-date... It is an unlocked Curve 8310 used on Fido by the way.

I've also tried entering my voice mail password/pin and it doesnt change anything (with or without).

Any thoughts?

Voice mail is generally set up by your carrier. Have you called them?

The BB generally has a setup option for VM that can be set to a specific number. The auto dial VM number either uses the setup number or the number loaded in the speed dial section. sometimes the carrier requires the number loaded to be called for the first time to set passwords and other options from the phone. If the BB is not new that number may be wrong.
Of course this is if the carrier set up your VM as Dubdub suggested.
